One of the most fabulous & rewarding things about living in LA is the variety of Art that dwells in our city! Just stepping outside of my apartment, I see the stenciled street creation of Shepard Fairey. As I drive down Sunset, I gaze at the Gibson guitar sculptures that decorate the streets of West Hollywood. As I stroll along 3rd St. promenade, I hear the melodic tunes of singers & musicians. From photographers, sculptors, street artists, to musicians, LA’s got it all. If you want a more formal setting, choose from the buzzing art galleries of DTLA, Culver City, Venice, Santa Monica, or the magnificent museums like LACMA, the Getty, or the Grammy Museum. There are so many exhibits to see this week, or this month, for that matter, along with several gallery openings. The overarching themes seem to be LA’s contribution to the Art World, giving way to an exhibition like the Pacific Standard Time, which focuses on highlighting every major Art movement that occurred in LA from the 40’s to 80’s. Its goal is to establish LA’s and California’s contributions to the Art world, as a recognized producer of artistic individuals & ideas. LA is the place where people from all over the country go to find themselves and reach their dreams. So, why wouldn’t we produce some of the best talent & ideas out there! The Hammer Musuem, LACMA, the Japanese American Museum are great locations to visit. Of course, there are other exhibits to visit that concentrate on other parts of the world, such as the Modern Antiquity presentation at the Getty Villa that features work from Picasso, de Chirico, Leger, & Picabia. Don’t think I forgot about music, when the Grammy Museum is showcasing the The Beatles, George Harrison, Andrea Bocelli, & my all time favorite diva, Barbra Streisand! See my recommendations below. I have a wide variety of selections so, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Have an artfully, intellectually, and culturally enriching weekend!
